Final Portfolio

After taking a trip to Death Valley and realizing how much I missed reconnecting with the natural world through the U.S.'s national parks, I knew that I wanted to embrace these locations as a way of delivering commentary on environmental issues. Drawing inspiration from the iconic WPA-style National Park Service posters, each of my pieces takes viewers to a different national park. Imagery of each park is accompanied by some visual aspect of change, many of which directly impact the park depicted. For example, rising global temperatures have increased rates of glacial melting in Montana's Glacier National Park.  Small catchphrases are included in each poster, as was done with the original NPS designs. The juxtaposition of this imagery and text aims to increase viewer awareness of solid waste production, invasive species, light pollution, atmospheric warming/glacial melt, and light pollution.
